Owing to the hotel's unique location, you can enjoy a wonderful view both across and along the river Elbe.

For unforgettable exhibitions, parties and conferences, our stylish function rooms provide the ideal backdrop. Some of these areas are within a listed building.

The foundations of this building date back to 1252. Initially a custom post, it has seen hundreds of millions of people pay their duty, from members of royalty and rulers to commoners. Poets, philosophers, painters and musicians have captured this, the "indisputably most beautiful point on the Upper Elbe" in various works.

Enjoy your stay in our new individual and lovingly furnished guest rooms, each of which has its own unique character. The building's old wooden balconies add a distinctive touch.

In our restaurant you can enjoy a unique view of the river while you savour our refined traditional cuisine. Excellent fish dishes are of course on the menu.

Experience the historic atmosphere of our "Vierländer Stube". Here within Hamburg's oldest walls we serve traditional Hanseatic and "Vierlande" cuisine.

Gaze at the sunset from our beer garden, where we serve beer, pretzels and grilled steaks.

Area information

The hotel itself is a popular day trip destination, and the surrounding area offers a wealth of leisure facilities and excursions. Barge trips are particularly popular, and these are possible from the hotel's own jetty.

Destinations nearby include the "Riepenburger Mühle" windmill, Eggers organic farm and the European Cultural Heritage site of the Upper Elbe. Go for a walk or a bicycle trip along the embankment, visit the bathing lakes at Oortkathen and Eichbaumsee, or discover the natural beauty surrounding the Ilmenau river.

Last but not least, the city of Hamburg awaits upstream with a wealth of attractions.

We are open 7 days a week, from 11:00 to 22:00. Should you be arriving outside these times, please let us know by telephone in advance.

Cancellation policy

Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 2 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged.
If cancelled later, 80 percent of all nights will be charged.
In case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged.

Children and Extra Bed Policy: All children are welcome.
All children under 10 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding.
All children under 2 years are charged EUR 15.00 per night and person for cots.
All older children or adults are charged EUR 30.00 per night and person for extra beds.
Maximum capacity of extra beds in a room is 2.
Maximum capacity of babycots in a room is 1.
